English/Chinese Food Dictionary

Having the proper English to Chinese translation of foods is one of the biggest problems for English speaking/reading visitors to Taiwan. How can you order anything if there isn’t an English menu, right? If you can’t pronounce the words correctly, don’t worry. Just make sure you print out or have a copy of these translations and just point out to the restaurant owner. Not all stores will have the same thing, but hopefully this list will help keep you from starving!

We’ll be constantly adding new items to this list. If you have any special requests, please send us a message!

(Note: We use the traditional pinyin for pronunciation, but the Chinese characters are in some cases specific to what is used in Taiwan and will be different from what you might use in China.)
